It's a Guy's Life!
In a sermon about the family called “Looking Back on Things That Matter,” which aired last February as part of the Family Matters series, Chuck read a list of great reasons for being a man. Here is a sample of that list. And speaking as a woman, I think you guys are fantastic. Enjoy.
Great Things about Being a Man
- You don’t have to go to the bathroom with a support group.
- Whole conversations are over in 30 seconds flat.
- You know stuff about tanks.
- You can kill your own food.
- Wedding plans take care of themselves.
- You can quietly enjoy a car ride from the passenger seat.
- You don’t have to clean up your apartment just because the meter reader is coming.
- You can watch TV for hours with your buddy and never wonder if he’s mad at you.
- Your underwear is $10.00 for a three-pack.
- Gray hair and wrinkles only add character.
- You can stop by your buddy’s house without having to bring a little gift.
- If another guy shows up at the party wearing the same suit, you might become lifelong friends.
- You seldom have strap problems in public.
- Your belly usually covers your hips.
- One outfit, one wallet, one pair of shoes, one color for all seasons
- A few belches are expected and tolerated.
- You can do your nails with a pocket knife.
- You have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache.
- Christmas shopping for 25 relatives can be accomplished at the same store in 45 minutes.

Hello Sports Fans,
Sometime ya just gotta do what ever it takes to win "UGLY" if necessary...they alway use the term "Winning Ugly" for sporting events, when the conduct of the game, match, bout...race is anything but a "Polished Preformance", or "Finally Tuned Machine", running on all cylinders...but remember, at the end of the day if you "WIN" that is all that really counts.
Don't forget the saying; "Second Place is just the first LOSER"...Broadcasters often announce, at the end of a less then stellar preformance by the winning team; "Well, it might have been UGLY, but it is still a "W", you can rack it up in the WIN COLUMN."
YA, well what about life? A game where the "players" (all of us), have profoundly more on the line then a Super Bowl, World Cup Soccer, World Title Bouts, The Stanley Cup and or PGA...title.
At the "END OF THE DAY" life.....WHO CAN SAY THEY WON THE REALLY BIG GAME...life? No one can because "ALL of us have sinned and come short of the glory of GOD".
There are only two ways to win the game of life if you will, two ways to make it to HEAVEN;
(ONE): Live your life absolutely PERFECTLY, in complete adherence with each and every one of the 10 Commandments God gave to Moses back in the day...and do it...24 X 7 X 365 for your entire life....never faultering even once in either thought, word or deed.
Or (TWO): You can Accept the free "GIFT" of salvation provided by God the Father, through His ONLY begotten son JESUS CHRIST and His finished work on the Cross at Calvery...aka: Salvation for ALL who will believe.
That's it, there are no other way to HEAVEN...regardless of what someone may suggest or rationalize, even if it's an Angel from Heaven.
Unfortunately, if you don't already know...I hate to be the one to break the news, but if you are old enough to read this post...I'm here to tell ya that the "FIRST" option for you to get into HEAVEN....the one about being "PERFECT", well if your honest...I'm sure you will agree option "ONE", is pretty much a "NO GO" for you and I at this point.
No offense intended, but Scripture tells us; "There are NONE righteous, no not even one."..."If a Man/Woman says that they have no sin, they lie and the truth is not in them".
So at the END OF THE DAY..."life", when it is all said and done...we are really left with only one choice that really matters aren't we; Do ya (I) want to spend eternity in Heaven, or do ya (I) want to spend it in Hell? Pretty simple isn't it.
Jesus told us straight-up; "I (Jesus) am the way, the truth and the life...NO ONE comes to the Father, but by me.
Personally...I have selected Heaven for eternity and set out to "Take off the OLD and by the renewing of my mind...put on the NEW".
To be perfectly honest, unlike some who take to Christianity, like Ted Nugent took to guitars and Rock-N-Roll. For me, I've had my share of "Self-Inflicted" difficulties keeping the "OLD MAN" in the grave where he belongs. However, the more mature I become in Christ, the more lengthy periods of time the "OLD MAN" remains in the grave where he belongs. (Gal. 2:20, I am crusified with Christ, never the less I live...)
I even tried the "UNDERCOVER-CHRISTIAN" thing for awhile, it sucked...No fun on either side of the fence.
I knew to much about God to enjoy the "Sin for a Season", because God's Laws are written on the tablets of Men's (MY) Hearts" and "It is put into the Heart of a Man/Woman to know that there is a GOD"...so I was without excuss.
I simply had NOT truly "Surrendered" to God's amazing grace, so there I was in the middle...knowing to much to enjoy Sin, even for a season and lacking the true Peace and Joy that can only come with Surrender. LIFE SUCKED in my World to say the least.
Now at 54yrs old, I can honestly say by the GRACE of God and His MERCIES that are new every morning...I have my priorities right.
It hasn't been, nor is it necessarily an easy road. I am here to tell you there is great disappointment and pain...especially when you watch those you love dearly make ALL the wrong choices. However, I KNOW that; "God's strength, is made perfect in my weakness." I also KNOW nothing takes God by surprise and by faith, I trust God to do that which is perfect in His timing.
You see, there are going to be a LOT of Christian Brother's and Sister's in HEAVEN, that will be very surprised...maybe "ticked off" a little, when they see me walking on the Golden Streets, in their "neighborhood".
I'm just going to look them in the eyes and tell those with a puzzled look of bewilderment, or disbelief on their face;
"YEP...YOU'RE RIGHT, IT'S ME...."WHO WOULDA THUNK"...BUT IT APPEARS THAT GOD'S GRACE IS TRULY GREATER THAN ALL OUR (MY) SIN"...just like the Bible and the Song says.
In my humble opinion; Mike Carlucci in HEAVEN for eternity...there is no better example of "WINNING UGLY". When one Sinner, accepts Christ as Lord and Savoiur, they are instantly and completely reconciled (righteous) in their relationship with GOD, for all time and eternity as they walk in faith.
Christian maturity and sanctification (being set apart) comes in time, as we walk in faith and service. However, I am never "ANYMORE SAVED"...then I am at the foot of the Cross, acknowledge and accept God gift in the person of Christ.
Please feel free to consider me the "WINNING UGLY"...Poster Child...even though it was actually Christ, who won my victory.
Yes, it was...and still at times may get a little bit UGLY, but I can assure you this; At the END OF THE DAY...life, "I'm gonna be there"....because if you don't give up on going hard after God...it is absolutely 100% IMPOSSIBLE to lose."
Regardless of past, current or future circumstances...IN CHRIST WE CAN CHALK UP A BIG FAT "W" IN THE WIN COLUNM AT THE END OF THE DAY....when it really counts for, ETERNITY......."WE WIN"
Best Regards,
One of those FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT, on a narrow straight road.

"WINNING IS NOT WINNING "WITHOUT HELPING OTHERS WHO ARE LEFT ON THE RACE OF LIFE,STUMBLED BECAUSE OF THE GIANT DISCOURAGEMENT
UNDERTAKES THEM.
ITS HARD TO BECAME A WINNER WITHOUT SOMEONE WITH, BUT THIS SOMEONE ALWAYS WITH US AS LONG AS WE LIVE, WE JUST COULDNT FEEL IT
UNLESS WE ACCEPT HIM.(OUR SAVIOUR)
{JESUS CHRIST}

Michael and Mary Ann, What amazing words you wrote for all of us here. I didn't see them posted; my apologies for missing them. I love your interaction, motivation, and call to reflect on all we have been given...the courage and endurance from our Lord Jesus Christ. Bless you both, Colleen
