I like the article and the pursuit of age appropriate maturation for children through dialogue and ownership of thier actions. I was raised in West Africa (Liberia) and had a father who modeled that greatly for his kids. I remember him telling my mother many times "let the children shoulder their problems" rather than spank us all the time. He did spank us by-the-way but he used a process that truly gave us a chance to mature in our thinking. As a result, we all have healthy homes and are really raising our kids to pass on a healthy legacy. Here is a link to my blog that might sense of my mission regarding a component of what you have written about http://the1stbornson.blogspot.com/2011/04/introducing-concept-of-firstborn-son.html.
