Thank you for speaking out on this issue. I have never thought of Tamar in this type of light before. Let's not as fathers, pastors, leaders in our community do what David did and just be angry lets do something! Let us expose the deeds of evil men as the scriptures say so that they cannot hurt other children. Let us also pursue with vigilance our own righteousness lest we fall into sexual sins ourselves. As the Psalmist wrote, "I will set no wicked thing before my eyes". This is the beginning of righteousness. Never allow yourself to be exposed to things that might, just might, draw you into sexual sins.

The truly sad fact of life is that now even the "Church" is guilty of child molestation. May God help us all.

I am so blessed to hear this straight forward, balanced yet well written piece that does not offend our senses but brings us to our senses. We run a camp for abused children and can verify that every word was valid. Last week at camp we had an 11 year old girl share her testimony which started with wrenching tears. Her family got into drugs, mom and dad started fist fighting and abusing the children. Soon dad left and mom resorted to prostitution to survive. More and more men were in their home. One day she found herself alone with a stranger so she quickly went to her bedroom where he sexually assaulted her. The mom came in, in the middle of it and said, "You paid me, not her!" The man went with her but later the mother never said a word about the incident. The mother even would do her services in front of her own daughter! Things were so hard that the girl started taking drugs and alcohol that was left around until she dulled her pain. When she could not handle the disgusting issues of her home she went next door to her uncle's home who was homosexual. He too did not mind letting his niece see him engage in sexual inappropriateness. The point of my story is that here in Southern California these types of atrocities have happened regularly to many of the children in foster care that we receive at camp. We also feel we need to wake up and speak up for the ones who will make our future. We have a chance, child by child, to change our culture back. We have a responsibility as the church to care for the "orphans of our day" who are in foster care or we will reap the consequences in our society. This girl accepted the Lord her week at camp and is on her way to understanding, forgiveness and healing. There is such a child in your neighborhood that needs others to step up gently and wisely, especially in prayer with God's love and healing.
