A welcome breeze cooled us as we hiked with Navy Bus 1 to the top of Megiddo and looked out across the Jezreel Valley.
The expanse of sky—and history—makes us feel small.
We learned that Megiddo has frequenly been a strategically important battlefield. Deborah and Barak fought General Sisera here. Solomon kept horses and chariots on this hill as a defensive outpost.
We also learned this rocky hilltop will play a significant role in the final chapters of earth's history when the nations will gather for a final battle before Christ returns.
Today, Megiddo is a worderful place to explore the history of Israel and to gaze out on the sweeping landscape that sprawls out toward the skyline.
